I suppose my first reaction was do not let international academics anywhere near such an area!<br /><br />I have always had some problems with Australian Studies as such for the same reason as Aboriginal Studies - it creates a ghetto effect. But the broader decline in history in general and in Australian history in particular is a real worry.<br /><br />I guess in my own way I'm trying to turn that around.
