However, as I understand it, some Indian US groups do insist on DNA testing if you want to be recognised as a member of that group.<br /><br />I didn't go into the group membership issue here because its something of a minefield.<br /><br />The education one is interesting because it shows very long term effects of specific Government decisions. The wheel turns. DNA testing adds another dimension to the issue which in the future may decide who qualifies for benefits etc. It is hard to predict how that will turn out. The fact that Aboriginal schools had a different cirriculum as well as untrained teachers or teachers that had failed their teacher training is something that not enough people know and the wider community needs to know in order to understand the concept of closing the gap in education.Caroline Chapmanhttp://www.armidalehistory.comnoreply@blogger.com
