The Bureau of Meteorology has released its annual climate statement for 2006. This shows the broad picture discussed earlier.
Those who are interested in the position by state or territory can find it here. The NSW annual report also shows the position I referred to (links to earlier posts here too), with north-eastern NSW spared the worst, with a small segment recording well above average rain.
Interestingly, while some parts of NSW recorded the lowest rainfall on record, December rains mean that the current drought is now only the third worst drought on record.
