Federal Election 07 - a closer call than first realised?

I have been waiting for the Electoral Commission to finalise the count. This seems to be taking an awfully long time.

Late counting of absentee votes etc appears to have strongly favoured the coalition. Here the inimitable William Bowe has a very interesting table for those who are interested.

Labor is still comfortably in front, with a two party preferred swing presently at 5.64%. However, the margins are a lot closer in individual seats than first appeared. I have not done an analysis, but it appears on the surface that a relatively small change in the swing could have delivered the Coalition quite a few more seats.

I will be very interested to see the final figures.
