Referral patterns on this blog suggest a continuing interest in Australian population statistics. In this context, the Australian Bureau of Statistics has just released new population statistics covering the period from 1788 to today.
This contains a range of information that will appeal to history buffs as well as those inclined to share trivia with others at dinner parties. Like, for example, that Australia's non-indigenous population passed the million mark in 1858, then passed two million in 1877!
ABS will be releasing further data in September, including updated estimates on our indigenous population.
